Long-haul flights from Europe often land in the afternoon, and Cruise America hands over its RVs only between 1 and 4 pm and never on Sundays; El Monte in Los Angeles and San Francisco starts standard pickups at 1 pm on weekdays. How the check works
- Pickup window: Cruise America hands over RVs between 1 and 4 pm; you call the depot a few days ahead to set your time [P1]. Depots are closed on Sundays and holidays, so no pickups or returns then [P3].
- Depot hours: as listed on each Cruise America location page (checked 2026-10-27). Las Vegas Henderson, Denver and Salt Lake City have summer hours (April 6 to October 10 [P3], Mon–Sat 8–5) and winter hours (Mon–Fri 8:30–5, Sat 9–4). Phoenix: Mon–Sat 8–5. Bozeman partner centre: Mon–Sat 9–5 [P3]. Las Vegas also has a second centre at 1700 Industrial Rd (Mon–Sat 8–4); the check uses Henderson unless your booking says otherwise.
- Getting there: transfer times as Cruise America states them (15–20 minutes at Las Vegas and Phoenix, 20–30 at Denver). Salt Lake City and Bozeman publish none, so we assume 30 minutes [A]. The walk-through takes about 25 minutes [P1].
- Holidays: the US federal holidays, worked out by rule. Cruise America says “holidays” without a list: New Year, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas show as closed; the others as “probably closed, ask the depot” [A].
- Late flights: Cruise America allows pickup on the day you arrive but is “NOT responsible for accommodating late arrivals” due to flight delays, passport control or baggage claim. A hotel night first is welcome but not required [P1].
- Los Angeles and San Francisco (added 2026-10-29): the check uses El Monte RV, which publishes its hours. Santa Fe Springs (22.3 miles from LAX): April 1 – September 30 Mon–Sat 8–5, Sun 8–4; October 1 – March 31 daily 9–4. San Leandro (14.0 miles from SFO, shared with Road Bear): April–September Mon–Fri 8–5, Sat 8–1; October–March Mon–Fri 9–4, Sat 9–1 but closed on Saturdays from November 1 to March 15 except November 28, December 19, December 26 and January 2; closed on Sundays. Standard pickups after 1 pm on weekdays, morning slots on early-closing days, returns before 10 am, no after-hours pickups, and closed on New Year, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas [P5][P6]. Transfer times are our assumption (45 and 40 minutes) [A]. Road Bear, roadsurfer, Escape Campervans and Cruise America are listed in the result with what they publish; where hours are only in an online locator or the booking confirmation we say so [A] [P7].
