The plane lands, the bags come off the belt, and there is no motorhome in sight. Fleet RVs wait at depots out in the suburbs (Henderson for Las Vegas, Mesa for Phoenix, Frederick for Denver), and the handover usually happens in the afternoon. So the first hours of a fly-in trip are a taxi ride and a check-in desk, not a campground.

Every route on this site starts with a flight. The catch: RVs are not parked at the terminal like rental cars. This page shows where the fleet depots near our five airports really are, when you can drive away, and what a one-way drop fee costs between the hubs.

Quick answer

Fleet depot (e.g. Cruise America)Marketplace (e.g. Outdoorsy)
Pickup at the airport terminal? No. The FAQ says: “You must arrange your own transportation to and from the airport.”Sometimes. Some hosts deliver to the airport for a fee they set themselves
When you can drive offNormally 1–4 pm; returns normally 9–11 am, late return $25/hourAgreed with the owner
Sundays and holidaysClosed — no pickups or returnsDepends on the owner
One-wayMost depots, pre-approval only; drop fee $350–750 between our hubs [A]Rare [A]
Best forOne-way trips, a standard handoverRound trips, airport delivery, late arrivals if the host agrees

In short: plan on a taxi or rideshare from the airport, a hotel night before pickup if you land after midday, and no pickups on Sundays. A one-way costs $350–750 extra between our hubs [A]. It saves the drive back but rarely saves money.

Airport vs. depot: where you actually pick up

Cruise America is the fleet operator with depots near all five airports, so we use its published locations as the reference. Hours are for rentals and come from each location page (checked 2026-10-27). The actual pickup window is narrower: normally 1–4 pm.

Transfer prices are our estimates for one taxi or rideshare from the airport to the depot and one back on return day, added together. They are the same figures as on our real-cost pages and in the cost calculator [A — not checked against live fares].

Bozeman is different: it is a Cruise America partner centre (“Big Boys Toys”), not one of its own depots. Confirm opening hours, one-way approval and cancellation terms with the partner before you book flights.

What the pickup window means for your flight

Fleet depots hand over RVs in a narrow afternoon window and close on Sundays and holidays. Read your landing time against this table before you book flights. It uses the Cruise America rules above; marketplace hosts set their own times.

You land…Then plan…
Monday–Friday, by about noonSame-day pickup is realistic: the transfer (15–30 minutes at Las Vegas, Phoenix and Denver; more at rush hour) fits before the 1–4 pm window. Call the depot the day before to set the time.
Monday–Friday, after about noonA hotel night near the airport, then pick up the next afternoon. Long-haul flights from Europe often land in the afternoon, so plan for this case [A].
SaturdaySaturday hours are shorter at most depots in winter (9–4). Morning landing: pickup is possible. Afternoon landing: the next pickup day is Monday.
Sunday or a public holidayNo pickups or returns. Pick up on Monday (or the next working day) and book the hotel nights in between.
Return dayReturns are normally 9–11 am, so book a flight home from the afternoon on. Returning late can cost $25 an hour. The return day can't be a Sunday or a holiday either.

Pickup is normally between 1 and 4 pm, so the first driving day is short. Plan the first night close to the depot or the airport, not at the park. Photo: Pond5 · licensed stock, credits

One-way fees between our hubs

Drop fees from the Cruise America one-way chart for pickups 1 Nov 2025 – 31 Oct 2026, published on the reseller site motorhomeandrvhire.com. Read across from the pickup city. These are 2025/26 values. On 2026-10-28 we found no chart for pickups from 1 November 2026, on cruiseamerica.com or at the resellers; the same reseller still quotes one-way fees of “$350 to $750 depending on pick up location and routing”. Use the table as a guide and get the real fee in your quote. All values [A]: Cruise America publishes no fee table and says “drop fees may be increased or decreased based on pick-up or drop-off location, dates and vehicle availability.”

Denver (DEN)$550$550$650—$750
Bozeman (BZN)$750$750$750$750—

The fee is not symmetrical: Las Vegas → Denver is $350, Denver → Las Vegas $550 [A]. Anything to or from Bozeman is $750 [A].

No drop fee at all: Cruise America also lists one-way specials when it needs to move vehicles, “not subject to normal one-way drop off fees” and discounted on time and mileage. Dates and routes are fixed and change often (in late October 2026, mostly relocations toward Orlando and Phoenix). Check its one-way specials page (checked 2026-10-28).

Marketplace: airport delivery instead of a depot

On peer-to-peer marketplaces the owner decides. Outdoorsy says more than 60% of its vehicles can be delivered, and the airport is one of the places you can choose. “The delivery fee is set by the Host and can vary based on distance, fuel, and the time required for setup,” and it is shown in your total before you confirm (checked 2026-10-27). Owners charge a flat fee, a per-mile fee or both, and set a maximum distance.

What to ask: the exact handover spot (arrivals curb, cell-phone lot or a nearby car park), what happens if your flight is late, and whether drop-off back at the airport costs the same again. One-ways are rare on marketplaces [A]. For a one-way, a fleet depot is usually the only practical option. Full comparison: Marketplace vs. fleet rental. Which vehicle to choose: Class C vs. campervan.
