This is the shortest trip on the site: six days, five nights and only about 350 to 450 miles. Fuel is a small line here, and the park itself is cheap, $35 for a week's vehicle pass plus a $2 booking fee for summer timed entry. The rental and the campsites do most of the work on this bill.
What does a 6-day fly-in RV trip from Denver to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park really cost for two people — once mileage, fuel, campgrounds, fees and the airport transfer are in? Below: every line, for a campervan and a Class C, with a check date and a source.
Quick answer
- Campervan, 6 days, 2 people: about $1,200–$3,600 all-in for US residents, $1,400–$3,800 if you live outside the US [A].
- Class C, 6 days, 2 people: about $1,600–$4,500 (US residents) or $1,800–$4,700 (visitors from outside the US) [A]. Ranges are the table totals rounded outward to the nearest $100.
- Biggest swing factor: timing. Timed entry and campground demand run from late May to mid-October, and Trail Ridge Road is only open in the warmer months [A]. On a short trip, fleet 7-night minimums can make a marketplace vehicle the cheaper choice.
- Not in these totals: flights, food and activities. Groceries for two, cooking mostly in the RV, add roughly $210–$420 [A — our estimate, not checked against a source].
- Prices checked: 2026-10-27; Colorado Road Safety Fee re-checked 2026-10-28.
Cost table (6 days, 2 people)
Low = off-peak, cheapest reasonable choices. High = peak season with every fee — most trips land in between. Ranges are for the whole trip, not per night.
| Item | Campervan | Class C | What drives it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vehicle rental (base rate) | $600–$1,500 | $900–$2,100 | ≈ $100–250 a night for a campervan, $150–350 for a Class C [A]. Benchmarks: Outdoorsy $100–175 / $150–250 a night; Go RV US average March 2026 $252 / $225. Fleet example: 7-night minimum, so a 6-day fleet rental is billed as 7 nights |
| Mileage (~350–450 mi) | $0–$180 | $0–$180 | $0 if unlimited miles are included (common on marketplace listings); a fleet example charges $0.39 a mile, so ~450 mi ≈ $180. Its unlimited package is $845 for up to 21 days — only worth it on long routes [A] |
| Fuel | $80–$220 | $130–$270 | Campervan 15–20 mpg, Class C 8–12 mpg [A] × route miles × AAA averages on this route checked 2026-10-27: Colorado average $4.44 regular, $6.59 diesel; we add 10% at the high end for mountain stations, and steep grades push you to the low mpg figure [A] |
| Campgrounds (5 nights) | $190–$520 | $190–$520 | Low: park sites — Moraine Park, Glacier Basin, Aspenglen or Timber Creek at $35 in summer ($55 electric where offered) — plus one night near Denver (~$50 [A]). High: Estes Park private RV parks with hookups at ~$100–110 a night [A] |
| Park entry (US residents) | $35–$37 | $35–$37 | $35 for a 7-day vehicle pass. Timed entry (May 22–Oct 12, 2026, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.) adds a $2 Recreation.gov fee |
| Kits, prep, cleaning, generator | $50–$360 | $50–$360 | Low: a marketplace listing with kits included plus a cleaning fee [A]. High: fleet example — $50 prep, $125 vehicle kit, 2 × $75 personal kits, generator $8/night × 5 |
| Insurance / protection | $150–$240 | $180–$300 | RVshare's own budgeting guide: about $25–40 a day for a campervan, $30–50 for a Class C. Fleet rates usually include basic cover; upgrades cost extra [A] |
| Taxes and service fees | $92–$372 | $132–$512 | Low: Denver rental tax 10.75% on the base rate plus the Colorado Road Safety Fee, $5.34 a day for the first 30 nights, so about $32 on the 6 days in this table (Cruise America 2026 notes, checked 2026-10-28). A fleet rental bills at least 7 nights, so there it is about $37, as the calculator’s fleet view shows. We apply the fee to marketplace rentals too, to be safe; a host may show it differently or not at all. High: plus a 10–12% marketplace service fee (Outdoorsy: 10%) [A] |
| Airport ↔ depot transfer (both ways) | $60–$160 | $60–$160 | DEN is far outside the city; taxi or rideshare to a depot, both ways [A — not checked] |
| Total, US residents | $1,257–$3,589 | $1,677–$4,439 | Sum of the lines above [A] |
| Park entry, visitors from outside the US | +$200 low, +$198 high | +$200 low, +$198 high | Rocky Mountain is one of the 11 parks with the $100 per-person non-resident fee (16+) — $235 for two at the gate, replacing the $35 (low) or $37 (high) US entry above. That is $15 less than the $250 Non-Resident Annual Pass, so the totals use the gate price, as the calculator does |
| Total, visitors from outside the US | $1,457–$3,787 | $1,877–$4,637 | Sum including the non-resident park cost [A] |
| Line | Campervan | Class C |
|---|---|---|
| Rental | $600–$1,500 | $900–$2,100 |
| Miles | $0–$180 | $0–$180 |
| Fuel | $80–$220 | $130–$270 |
| Campgrounds | $190–$520 | $190–$520 |
| Park entry | $35–$37 | $35–$37 |
| Kits & fees | $50–$360 | $50–$360 |
| Insurance | $150–$240 | $180–$300 |
| Taxes | $92–$372 | $132–$512 |
| Transfers | $60–$160 | $60–$160 |

Short trip, minimum nights
The fleet fee sheet we used has a 7-night minimum, so a 6-day trip pays for 7 nights there. Many marketplace hosts accept shorter rentals [A]. If you have the time, add a day and use it — or start a longer Colorado loop here.
One-way instead of a loop?
Fleet one-way fees run $350–750 depending on route (Cruise America 2026 terms) [A — confirm for your dates]. For a Denver-only trip, a round trip is simpler and cheaper.
